A Place to Call Home
Thoughts from Kathy Brogli, VP of Homeowner Services
There’s a phrase in the Phillip Phillips song, “Home” that says “Just know you’re not alone…’Cause I’m going to make this place your home.”
HOME. That word means so many things to so many people: Stability. Independence. Family. Friends. Foundation. Future. Memories. Security. Hopes. Dreams. Horizons.
Those words have been used by Habitat for Humanity homeowners and future homeowners to describe what “Home” means to them. What does it mean to you?
To me, home is a haven, a place of peace, of laughter, of love, of family, whether it’s a family of one or many, by blood or by choice.
As part of Habitat Hillsborough, I have the privilege of working with future homeowners who choose to partner with Habitat to build a place they can call home – which is something everyone deserves.
Each homeowner works long hours of Sweat Equity to build their home. They buy the home and pay an affordable mortgage. It’s not easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is, is it?
If you donate to, somehow support, or volunteer with Habitat Hillsborough, you, to borrow the phrase from the song, tell our future homeowners, “You’re not alone…I’m going to [help] make this place your home.”
