Partnership with Habitat Produces More than a Makeover for a Plant City Home
During the month of July, Cathy Long-Snead of Plant City received a makeover on the exterior of her home, thanks to Habitat Hillsborough’s Home Preservation Program and volunteers from Seminole Presbyterian Church. The home, built in 1980, not only needed painting and a few other minor exterior repairs, but the back porch needed replacing, as well
The Seminole Presbyterian Church youth prepped the home by pressure washing the outside of the house. They also enjoyed the deconstruction of the dilapidated back porch. The makeover, however, had just begun.
One group of volunteers started construction on the new back porch while another group began putting on the first of two coats of fresh paint on the home. Throughout the day, Cathy worked very hard alongside the volunteers to bring new life to her home. That teamwork produced something in which Cathy can take great pride – a beautiful home with a fresh new look and a safe and usable new back porch!
Because of the generous support of our donors and volunteers, Habitat Hillsborough helped Cathy strengthen her community and empowered her as a homeowner. Although money was spent on the supplies, the result is priceless!
