Ascentia Development Group and Batson Cook Construction partner with Habitat Hillsborough to build affordable housing
TAMPA, FL, June 13, 2019 – Luxury builder Ascentia Development Group (ADG), Batson Cook Construction (BCC) and Virage Bayshore will be raising the roof on June 15th for a Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County home build that is the first of ten Habitat homes to be constructed within the University Area Community Development district. The partnership with Habitat Hillsborough differs from the nonprofit’s usual home build partners in that Virage Bayshore and its partners will be providing the labor and donating the materials for all subcontracting aspects of the home build not related to volunteer labor including masonry services, plumbing, roofing, flooring, electrical work and more.
The ADG/BCC/Virage Bayshore-sponsored home will be built for the Kassa-Belew family of five. Mr. Kassa will be working alongside volunteers for the official opening of the construction site Saturday morning and throughout the build. ADG and Virage Bayshore executives will also be on hand to present a $130,000 check to Habitat Hillsborough CEO Tina Swain to underwrite construction costs.
“We are delighted and honored to have this opportunity and partnership with Habitat for Humanity,” said Jay Tallman, president, Ascentia Development Group. “It’s something we’ve wanted to become involved with for a long time. While Virage Bayshore and our other communities have specifically showcased a luxury real estate offering, we absolutely love the idea of giving back to our community and contributing to the affordable housing needs of the Tampa Bay area.”
ADG and Virage Bayshore partners also participating in the Kassa-Belew family home build include Batson Cook Development Company, Dallas 1 Construction & Development, Faith Technologies, Reinforced Structures Inc. and Spectra Contract Flooring.
This partnership marks the beginning of ADG’s commitment to help further Habitat’s mission of providing affordable homeownership opportunities that help stabilize and strengthen low-income, local families.
The Kassa-Belew home will be built on 138th Avenue as part of a Habitat Hillsborough community of 10 adjacent homes in the University Area in north Tampa. The anticipated completion date of the Kassa-Belew home is August 30th. A date for the home’s dedication and key presentation ceremony will be announced in early August.
