Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County receives operational support from $25,000 Fifth Third Foundation grant.
TAMPA, FL (January 6, 2021) – As the pandemic continues to impact our communities and stable housing is more important than ever, Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County’s homes continue to be built to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for low-income families, thanks to support from partners like the Fifth Third Foundation. The Fifth Third Foundation recently awarded Habitat Hillsborough a $25,000 grant from its “Strengthening Our Communities Fund” for operating support for the nonprofit’s affordable home building program.
“The pandemic has, for many, severely affected their ability to meet the basic human need of having shelter over their heads,” said Cary Putrino, North Florida regional president for Fifth Third Bank. “These funds will assist Habitat for Humanity’s homeowner candidates who are in need of secure, affordable shelter, helping them maintain stability without the threat of losing their homes.”
“Especially during this public health crisis, building decent, affordable shelter is vital to our community and we are grateful for Fifth Third Foundation’s generous support,” said Tina Swain, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County. “Their support during this critical time enables us to continue building for many low-income families struggling to find a safe, affordable place to call home. We depend on the tremendous support of corporate partners like Fifth Third Bank to help Habitat build stability for Hillsborough County families through affordable homeownership.”
Established in 1948, the Fifth Third Foundation was one of the first charitable foundations created by a financial institution. The Fifth Third Foundation supports worthy causes in the areas of health and human services, education, community development and the arts in the states where Fifth Third Bank operates.
