How you can take action to ensure housing stability.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our communities, we continue to find ways to help ensure individuals and families have a stable place to call home during and after the pandemic.
Before the pandemic, more than 18 million U.S. households were paying half or more of their income on housing, forcing them to make impossible choices between paying their mortgage or rent and meeting other basic needs. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are likely to worsen this situation.
More than 40 million people have filed for unemployment in the U.S. since March, and the pandemic is further exposing — and exacerbating — housing challenges. It is essential we leverage our voices as Habitat for Humanity supporters to not only improve access to affordable homes, but also to ensure housing stability for families across the country.
Please email your members of Congress to ask them to prioritize housing stability for families across the country.
We hope you, your families and your communities are safe and healthy and these uncertain times.
